Whisk was founded in June 2012 by Nick Holzherr and Craig Edmunds. In the final of the BBC Apprentice 2012 Nick pitched Whisk to Lord Sugar for his investment. After not winning Lord Sugar’s investment, private Angel investors and institutional investors backed the company with an investment of £170k. In December 2012 the company was backed with an additional £360k investment.
The team has grown from the two co-founders to a team of over 15 people. Most of our staff work from our Birmingham, UK office but we are slowly recruiting people based around the world.
The company launched it’s first public-facing functionality in January 2013 on publisher websites and on Apple and Android smart-phone app stores. For the first half of 2013 Whisk grocery checkout functionality will be available in the UK only.
